Eco Church Group

Our Eco Church group is responding to the late Pope Francis’ Laudate Si encyclical on the environment. His encyclical, published in 2015, emphasizes the urgent need to care for our planet and addresses climate change, ecological degradation, and social justice. This document not only reflects his concern for nature but also calls for a deep transformation of cultural and economic systems.

In Laudato Si’, Pope Francis highlighted the interconnectedness of all creation. He posits that environmental issues are fundamentally linked to social justice, arguing that the most vulnerable populations often bear the brunt of environmental devastation. This holistic vision encourages not only policy changes but also lifestyle adjustments to promote sustainability.

Our Eco Church Group has a number of initiatives already in place to make our churches more eco-friendly. These include church planting, bug hotels, birds nesting boxes, providing great opportunities for young people to get involved.

Job 12:7-10

“But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.”
