Safeguarding
Every human being has a value and dignity which we as Catholics acknowledge as coming directly from God’s creation of all people being made in God’s own image and likeness. This means we have a duty and vocation to value all people, and therefore to support them and protect them from harm.
In our Parish we have designated parishioners who are the Safeguarding Representatives for their church.
They work closely with the Diocesan safeguarding teams, to make sure that all Diocesan policies are applied in any activities that include children and vulnerable adults.
All parishioners who undertake ministries or volunteer in parish groups, and who may encounter children, young people and vulnerable adults, must be DBS checked and undertake safeguarding training every 2 years.
Our clergy undertake training and enhanced DBS checks regularly too.
