Diocesan day for Catechists
Portsmouth Diocese Catechists’ Formation Day on Saturday 10th October, 9:30am–1:30pm at St Bede’s, Basingstoke. We will be joined by Fr Emmanuel Mansford of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal and Dr Káren North from St Mary’s University Twickenham as we come together from across the Diocese for a morning of prayer, inspiration, and practical formation as we reflect on our shared mission to form missionary disciples. The day will start with Mass before we move into our sessions, there will also be a time for prayer and reflection as well as hearing from each other before we finish the day with a shared lunch (provided as part of the day).
Together we will:
- Reflect on the call to be missionary disciples in today’s world.
- Explore how catechesis leads to a living encounter with Jesus Christ.
- Share ideas, resources, and best practice with catechists from across the Diocese.
- Pray together and be renewed in our own vocation as disciples and evangelisers.
- Grow in confidence to help others deepen their relationship with Christ and become active members of the Church’s mission.
Who is it for? All catechists and parish volunteers involved in faith formation are welcome, including those preparing children and adults for the Sacraments, RCIA teams, Confirmation and First Holy Communion catechists, youth leaders, children’s liturgy teams, and anyone discerning a ministry of catechesis. Whether you are new to catechesis or have served for many years, this formation day offers encouragement, practical tools, and spiritual renewal to support your ministry.
Come and be refreshed, inspired, and equipped to form disciples who make disciples. To register your interest please click here, or email ffm@portsmouthdiocese.org.uk.
